What is The Green Room?

The Green Room Learning Community is Anchorage’s answer to the growing demand for flexible, high-quality education.

Founded in 2022 by homeschooling parent and former gifted education specialist Leigh Sloan, we began as a small, single-room program for middle and high school students.

Today, we offer K–12 classes across multiple campuses — and in Fall 2025, we’ve expanded our 4-day-per-week program to include all grades.

Our mission is simple: help kids thrive academically, socially, and physically — while giving parents flexibility and peace of mind.

A "Green Room" is a homey atmosphere where you get ready to go out and perform. It's where you practice creativity and experience camaraderie with peers before you face the pressure of the stage (adult life). Green is also for "GO." We won't to hold you back, but encourage you to excel at your own pace.

FAQs

Can I enroll in multiple campuses?

Yes, if different campuses meet your needs, you may take classes at both at the middle and high school levels. This is not recommended at the elementary level.

How can I take a-la-carte classes?

Electives can be taken a-la-carte. Core classes can be taken a-la-carte provided there is space. Earlier in the school year  it is generally easier to secure a-la-carte spots. Ask about the availability of the class that interests you. A-la-carte classes are $100 extra per class.

How does billing/funding work?

All our teachers commit to becoming approved vendors with almost any local charter/correspondence school in the area so that they can direct bill the parent or the allotment program. Teachers bill individually, not The Green Room. It is your job to set aside the funds. It is the teacher's job to bill accordingly. Contact us if you are new to the process and we can walk you through it. You may also pay out of pocket if you prefer.
